I do not ask you (poem) by Mario Benedetti

I do not ask you (poem)

I do not ask you to take me down
a blue star
I only ask you that my space
Fill with your light
I do not ask you to sign me
ten gray papers to love
I only ask that you want
the pigeons that I usually look at.
From the past I will not deny it
the future will one day come
and of the present
what matters to people
if they are always going to talk.
Keep filling this minute
of reasons to breathe
do not indulge me, do not deny yourself
do not talk to talk.
I do not ask you to take me down
a blue star
I only ask you that my space
Fill with your light
